Hi @pazienza

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your HP Victus is struggling with stability when launching a game, possibly due to overheating, power delivery issues, or a GPU-related fault. Given that you've already replaced the thermal paste multiple times, let's explore other possibilities:

1. Check for Overheating or Thermal Throttling

  • Use HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner to check CPU & GPU temps while running the game.
  • If temperatures exceed 90°C, your system might be shutting down to protect itself.
  • Try lowering the power limit or clock speeds via your GPU control panel.

2. Test with Lower Power Mode

  • Open Power Settings → Select Balanced or Power Saver mode and see if the issue persists.
  • In NVIDIA Control Panel, set the Power Management Mode to Prefer Maximum Performance.

3. Try Running on Integrated Graphics

  • Open Device Manager → Expand Display Adapters → Disable the discrete GPU (RTX/AMD) and run the game using integrated graphics.
  • If this works, it suggests a problem with your dedicated GPU.

4. Check for PSU or Battery Issues

  • If your laptop switches between power and screen, the power adapter could be faulty.
  • Try using a different power adapter if available, or remove the battery and boot with just the charger.

5. Update BIOS & GPU Drivers

  • HP sometimes releases firmware updates that improve stability.
  • Download the latest BIOS update and GPU drivers from HP’s official site.

Since you've been managing thermal paste application, I’m guessing you're comfortable with hardware troubleshooting. If none of these resolve the issue, let me know what results you get, and we can dig deeper!
