I have a hp victus 15 gaming laptop. While messing around with some bcdedit settings I saw one called user firmware settings, it was set to off then I toggled it on after that I rebooted then my pc crashed. I reversed it using cmd I system recovery environment and then the problem started. My pc was underperforming in everything no Matt what I did it keep dropping frames slow start up name it. I then reinstalled windows with a usb flash drive deleted the old partitions and tried again but all the lags and frame drops still persist please if anyone knows a way to fix this thank you Very much

Hi @Slasherxe,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the issue you're experiencing. It seems like the changes made to the boot configuration data (BCD) might have impacted on your laptop's performance. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue
I would request you to perform a Hardware test in UEFI
Extensive Test:
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.
BIOS Reset: Sometimes, changes in firmware settings can affect system performance.
Resetting the BIOS to its default settings might help.
- Shut down your HP laptop completely.
- Press the power button to turn it on.
- Immediately and repeatedly press the Esc key until the "Startup Menu" appears.
- From the Startup Menu, press F10 to enter the BIOS and Select the option to restore defaults.
Update Drivers: After reinstalling Windows, ensure that all your drivers are updated, particularly the graphics, chipset, and any firmware updates provided by HP.
I hope this helps. I would request you to please let me know how it works.
Take care and have an amazing day!

I have already done all the steps given. I even further went ahead to reinstall windows 25h2 with my flash drive still deleting the old partitions and creating new ones. This whole issue started after I ran this bcdedit command "bcdedit /set {current} usefirmwarepcisettings Yes" after that my laptop crashed which I then reverted it through safe environment but since then I have been getting this issues with the performance

Hi @Slasherxe,
Thanks for reaching out and keeping me posted.
I’m sorry you’re having to deal with that. If you want, I can help you narrow down what might still be causing the slowdown.
Please try the BIOS restore steps below:
1) Shut down the computer, keep the charger plugged in
2) Hold down the Windows + B buttons together while the computer is still turned off.
3) Turn on the computer and continue to hold the Windows + B buttons until a BIOS Recovery screen appears.
4) Follow the on-screen instructions and click on OK.
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster!
