When I open my laptop without the power cable it turns off automatically, it has never done this, I'll start by saying that I don't have any settings that do this type of thing.
Once it is connected however it remains on as it should.
I tried to run the HP program's diagnostic tests and it passed them all without any problems.

Hi @Real_DeNo,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop may be experiencing an issue with its battery or power management system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.
- Check Power Settings: Even though you mentioned that you don't have any settings that should cause the laptop to turn off without the power cable, it's worth double-checking your power settings just to be sure. Go to your Control Panel or Settings menu and navigate to Power Options. Make sure that there are no settings enabled that would cause the laptop to shut down when running on battery power.
- Update Drivers: Ensure that all of your laptop's drivers, especially those related to power management, are up to date. You can usually find driver updates on the HP support website for your specific laptop model.
- Battery Health Check: Use HP's battery health check tool utility to assess the health of your laptop's battery. It's possible that the battery is failing and no longer holding a charge properly, which could cause the laptop to shut down unexpectedly when running on battery power.
- BIOS Update: Check if there are any BIOS updates available for your laptop model on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates include fixes for power management issues.
- Physical Inspection: Inspect the battery and power connectors for any signs of damage or corrosion. If there's visible damage, it may be necessary to replace the battery or have the laptop serviced by a professional.
- Reset BIOS Settings: If you're comfortable doing so, you can try resetting the BIOS settings to their default values. This can sometimes resolve issues related to power management settings.
By following these steps, you should be able to narrow down the cause of the problem and hopefully resolve it.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
