Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

Hi,

I’ve seen this ticket and it’s exactly what’s happening to me:
I have issues with something that makes my wifi button dissapear, and airplane mode is there but I cant click it. When trying to change adapter, I only have ethernet choice.
I see alot of solution on google, but nothing is working. Is it virus or something.

What can I do, bring my computer to the HP-shop again and demand them to fix it or have I broken my computer.
It has happened to me more than 5 times since I got the laptop, and I’ve always had to do a clean installation of Windows! I even took it to technical support and they did the same thing!

I don’t know what’s going on with this laptop and Windows 11, but it’s a real problem. I’m not sure if it’s just a coincidence, but it has always happened when I change the lock screen picture! I end up without a Wi-Fi adapter and without Bluetooth. Could you please give us a solution for this?

Regards,
Joskar.-

Hi @Joskar1983

Thank you for sharing the follow‑up so clearly—I can imagine how frustrating it must have been to lose Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth repeatedly and feel forced into full reinstalls.

You’ve done an excellent job testing methodically, and it’s great to hear that the simple full power‑off and wait cycle brought the adapters back without reinstalling Windows.

What your result confirms

  • The adapters themselves are intact and functional.
  • The disappearance is tied to a firmware or power state lock—when the system is restarted, residual states remain, but a full shutdown with a pause clears them.
  • This explains why the “airplane mode stuck” symptom coincides with missing adapters.

Practical steps to keep things stable

Use full shutdown instead of restart

  • In Windows 11, click Start > Power > Shut down rather than Restart when you need a reset.
  • If the issue recurs, leave the laptop powered off for at least 60 seconds before turning it back on.

Disable Fast Startup

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save and restart
This ensures shutdowns fully clear hardware states.

Keep BIOS and drivers updated

  • Visit the Victus 15‑fa1000 drivers page
  • Install the latest BIOS, chipset, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth drivers.
  • Updates often improve how Windows handles airplane mode and device power states.

Avoid lock screen personalization triggers for now

  • Since you noticed a pattern, stick to default or Windows Spotlight lock screen images until stability is confirmed.

You’ve already discovered the most effective workaround—full shutdown with a pause—and that’s a reliable way to recover adapters without reinstalling. If it happens again, you now have a quick fix that saves time and effort.

Hi @Joskar1983

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing everything so clearly—I’m truly sorry this keeps happening. I appreciate the clean installs and support visits you’ve already gone through.

Let’s walk through a focused recovery path to restore your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionality without reinstalling Windows again.

Step-by-step recovery for missing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on Victus 15-fa1000

1. Check Device Manager for missing adapters

  • Press Windows + X, select Device Manager
  • Expand Network adapters and Bluetooth
  • If you don’t see “Realtek Wi-Fi” or “MediaTek Bluetooth,” click View > Show hidden devices
  • If still missing, proceed to reinstall drivers manually

2. Reinstall chipset and wireless drivers manually

3. Reset network settings

  • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced network settings > Network reset
  • Click Reset now
  • This will remove all network adapters and reinstall them after reboot

4. Disable Fast Startup (optional but helpful)

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
  • Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup
  • Save changes and restart

5. Confirm BIOS settings

  • Restart and press Esc, then F10 to enter BIOS
  • Go to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
  • Ensure Wireless LAN and Bluetooth are enabled
  • Save and exit

6. Avoid lock screen personalization triggers

  • For now, avoid changing the lock screen image until stability is confirmed
  • If you must personalize, use Windows Spotlight or a default image rather than a custom file

Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If the adapters reappear and stay stable, we can explore deeper driver retention strategies. You’ve done everything right by staying observant and persistent—I’ll be here to guide you further.

Hello, well I followed all the steps you mentioned, but I couldn’t find any wireless network card or any BT module. Finally, I saw an action on your forums: Turn off the computer (do not restart it) and leave it powered off for more than 1 minute...

When I turn on the computer, we recovered WIFI adapter and BT!

I don't know what's the problem between HP and air plane Windows mode, but is very common based on what I see in the forums.

I hope this is the last time it happens, and if it occurs again, that with the last solution of shutting down, waiting 1 minute, and starting up, it can be resolved without having to reinstall anything, because that is a long and tedious process.

Hi Hawks Eye thanks for your response.

I've changed "fast startup".

I hope it doesn’t happen again.

You are welcome @Joskar1983

I’m glad you were able to adjust the fast startup setting — that’s a smart move, as disabling it often helps stabilize boot behavior and prevents odd glitches from reappearing.

You’ve already taken a solid step — if the issue doesn’t return, you’re in the clear. If it does, these extra measures will give you a stronger safety net.

You're awesome, and I'm honored to have been your go-to guide! 😊

Stay fantastic, and have an amazing day ahead!
