HP Victus 15 Ryzen 5 5600H | 15,6"-144Hz | ram 32GB | disc 2TB  | graphics card RX6500M

The system was installed about a year and a half ago using a USB flash drive from Microsoft's wizard. Everything was fine for a while. The laptop runs Windows 11, although it won't boot. The laptop runs randomly; it boots once and sometimes runs from the very beginning of the system, which is a serious issue; it must have a significant load and 100% memory usage. Nothing can be done, such as running configuration or connecting a folder for several minutes. If I open Task Manager, it doesn't show that the process is using a larger computer, memory usage, and additional components at levels up to 100%. There may be a problem caused by a Windows update. It's been checked for viruses, etc. There's no hack in the system that could be causing the load. Programs like CCleaner don't have much effect.

I formatted the drive and reinstalled the system, creating the installation flash drive with Rufus. The computer worked fine 1-2 hours after installation after disconnecting it. The next day, the computer displays a problem: the computer is sluggish, running on 1GB of RAM and any old, slow hard drive. There's nothing installed on the computer that's essential for things like Chrome, Firefox, or 7-Zip. All tests, including memory, battery, etc., were run on the computer before the system booted, all ending with a "passed" message. I tried to turn on the computer again and had trouble starting the system. I enabled the side menu/Windows Repair, and the system started...
Try connecting graphics cards that are available and sharing them with only the one active card, which isn't included. The computer is still sluggish.
Any advice? What might be slow? How can I diagnose the problem?

Hi @TomTom_victus,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Victus 15-fb0125nw. Kindly follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

STEP 1: Check CPU & Disk Behaviour (CRITICAL)

Boot Windows and immediately:

Open Task Manager → Performance

Check:

CPU speed (not usage)

Disk active time

Memory “In use / Compressed

STEP 2: Perform System test and check the result:

To perform a system test on your HP Victus 15, shut down the laptop, then turn it on and repeatedly press the Esc key to enter the startup menu, then press F2 to launch the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI; from the main menu, select System Tests and run the Fast Test first, then the Extensive Test if the fast one passes, noting any failure IDs for support if issues arise

STEP 3: BIOS Actions (Victus-Specific)

Enter BIOS and:

Load Default Settings

Disable:

Fast Boot

Modern Standby

If possible:

Disable Hybrid Graphics (force iGPU or dGPU)

Check RAM speed (should be 3200 MHz)

👉 Also check the HP website:

Install the latest BIOS

OR roll back one version if the issue started after the update

STEP 4: Power & Thermal Check

Monitor CPU clocks with HWInfo

If CPU instantly drops to very low clocks → motherboard power issue

Try running only on:

Battery

Charger (separately)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
