Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

Hello, I have an HP OMEN 17t-an100 CTO.

I recently purchased a new battery, it is an authentic one. Before the battery was very weak and when I was opening my laptop brightness goes to zero and I found this somewhat normal but annoying. (I can get it to go to 100% manually). This continues after the new battery though? This happens also when it's charged and when it's unplugged.

Hello angie001_ ,

Thank you for reaching out. Regarding the issues you’re experiencing with your laptop brightness going to zero, we’d need a bit more information to provide the most accurate guidance.

- Has the issue been there recently , after any windows update or drivers update
- Check for the latest driver updates for your device
- perform all pending drivers and windows updates if any
- Check your power settings – sometimes adaptive brightness or power saver modes can override manual adjustments
- Check if you not upgraded or changed the default windows operating system that was shipped with the laptop as that might have impacted the functionality
- Update the hot key drivers specific to your windows operating system
- To check win version - To check your Windows version, press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog, type winver, and press Enter to see a window with your Windows edition and build number. Alternatively, click the Start button, select Settings > System > About, and look under the Windows specifications section for the edition and version information

This will help us narrow down the cause and suggest the best fix.
