Microsoft Windows 11

Last year a user said in Spanish “I have a hP NEW Victus Gaming 16-s0030ns AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS/32GB/1TB SSD/RTX 4070/16.1” FREEDOS, I have a w11 to install and I can not. I can enter the w11 installation, until it detects 6 or 7 partitions, and it does not let me choose the 1 tb partition to install w11. It says: “disk 0 partition 3 918,4 gb unknown”. I tell it to give me details and it comes out a box saying: “The selected volume is offline. To install on this volume use the disk management tool to bring the volume online”. However, with F2, I run all the diagnostic tests and they are all positive.” If hp's reply had been helpful and not a use English I wouldn't be here thinking of returning the laptop and never buying hp again. Now will you answer properly to the problem of your equipment?

@hastamasalla, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the SSD Partition Issue!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Back Up Important Data: If there is any important data on the SSD, make sure to back it up before proceeding, as the following steps might involve formatting or deleting partitions.

Delete Existing Partitions:

  • During the Windows 11 installation, when you reach the "Where do you want to install Windows?" screen, you will see a list of partitions.
  • Select each partition one by one and choose "Delete" to remove them. Ensure you have backed up any important data before doing this.
  • Once all partitions are deleted, you should see the entire drive as unallocated space.

Create a New Partition:

  • After deleting all partitions, select the unallocated space and click "Next." Windows setup will create the necessary partitions automatically and begin the installation process.
  • If you prefer to create a specific partition size, select the unallocated space, click "New," specify the size of the new partition, and then click "Apply."

Check for Drive Issues:

  • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, there might be a problem with the SSD itself. You can use the built-in Windows tools or third-party software to check the health of the SSD.
  • You can try running chkdsk command from a command prompt to check the disk for errors.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Enter the BIOS/UEFI settings by pressing the appropriate key during system startup (usually F10, F2, Del, or Esc depending on your system).
  • Ensure that the drive is detected correctly in the BIOS/UEFI.
  • Check the SATA mode; it should be set to AHCI for better compatibility with Windows installation.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
