Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

I bought the Omen max 16 laptop last week. Initially, after some tinkering related to favouring the RTX 5080 over the onboard GPU, games worked flawlessly.

Starting yesterday, all games crash on launch. 3D Mark is unable to run a benchmark test. If I disable the onboard GPU through the Device Manager or using the Omen Gaming Hub graphics switcher, the display becomes completely unstable, with frequent black screen and artifacts.

I have tried the usual things - reinstalling windows, full system reset, updating and rolling back drivers etc.

This feels like a hardware issue to me - is the Nvidia card just fried? Should I return the laptop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding new Omen MAX 16 laptop

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your new Omen MAX 16 laptop, specifically with the NVIDIA RTX 5080 graphics card. Here are some steps you can try to resolve these issues:

Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your NVIDIA graphics drivers are up-to-date. You can download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA official website or through the HP support site.

OMEN Gaming Hub: Make sure the OMEN Gaming Hub application is up to date. This application manages various settings and optimizations for your hardware. Reinstall it from the Microsoft Store if needed.

Performance Mode: In the OMEN Gaming Hub, switch to Performance or Extreme mode to ensure optimal performance of the GPU.

Reinstall Graphics Drivers: Uninstall the current graphics drivers completely and then reinstall them. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) if needed to ensure a clean uninstallation.

Check Power Settings: Go to your power settings and ensure that your laptop is set to High Performance mode, which can often help with GPU-related issues.

PhysX Processor: In the NVIDIA Control Panel, make sure PhysX is set to use the RTX 5080. This can sometimes resolve issues if the wrong GPU is being utilized for certain tasks.
