Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 (598V0AV)

Hi,

I purchased a gaming laptop: Victus 15 fb0051ax   6months ago with single channel ram of 8Gb 3200Mhz.

I want to upgrade it to 16Gb dual channel(the device supports upto 16gb). However it will be under warranty for the next 29 months as I purchased extended warranty for the laptop.

Can I upgrade my laptop to 16gb ram while it's under warranty? Can I do the upgrade myself or should I take it to the service centre? I heard that upgrading it in service centre is expensive while it's whithin warranty.

If I can do the upgrade myself, where can I purchase the 8Gb stick.

Thanks for the response in advance.

Hi:

This is a peer-to-peer forum.

We do not work for or represent HP, so we are not able to provide official warranty guidance on HP's behalf.

I recommend you contact HP support for an official response.

Off the record, below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide (hp.com)

According to chapter 5 of the manual, upgrading memory or the SSD is a customer-authorized procedure, so I would think that you can do the work yourself without voiding the warranty unless you break something in the process.

I do know that if your notebook does need warranty service, you will need to return it to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for any warranty repairs.

The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that this would be a compatible 8 GB memory chip:
