Hi @Shivansh27,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding RAM not working!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since you've already tried re-inserting the RAM and the issue persists, follow these troubleshooting steps to confirm whether the RAM stick or the slot is faulty:

Check the RAM Slots

Remove both RAM sticks.

Insert only the non-working RAM stick into the working slot and see if the system detects it.

  • If it works, the issue is with the RAM slot.
  • If it doesn’t work, the RAM stick may be faulty.

Test the working RAM stick in the faulty slot.

  • If the slot doesn’t detect any RAM, the slot is likely damaged.
  • If the slot works, the RAM stick might be faulty.

Clean the RAM and Slots

Dust can cause connection issues.

  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean the RAM contacts and slots.
  • Wipe the gold contacts on the RAM stick with an eraser or isopropyl alcohol.

Update BIOS & Reset CMOS

Sometimes, a BIOS issue may cause RAM detection problems.

  • Check for a BIOS update on your laptop manufacturer’s website.
  • Try a CMOS reset (remove the battery for a few minutes and put it back).

Try New RAM

  • If one stick is confirmed dead, replace it with a same-spec DDR4 1600MHz RAM.
  • If the slot is faulty, you’ll have to use only one working slot or consider motherboard repair/replacement.

Final Thoughts:

If the RAM stick is faulty → Replace it.
If the RAM slot is faulty → Use only one stick or repair the motherboard.

Let me know what you find after testing! 😊
