I have had an HP pavillion before with an i5 and lower specs all around with no real fps problems other than the max fps I would get was about 40 but I upgraded to a newer HP pavillion with i7 and better specs all around. For the first few months my laptop ran fine with no problems while gaming but now it is completely random and unpredictable when my game will go from a constant 60 fps (with cap) all the way down to literally 1 fps for 1-5 seconds at a time. This basically completely freezes the game. This drop can happen anywhere from 0-6 times in one game (around 30 minutes). I have tried so many suggestions like turning off game dvr and other things but nothing has worked. Please help!! Thank you.

@Austin244 Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you are facing the FPS drop issue while playing the games.
There are many ways to increase FPS and system performance:
-
Update the BIOS.
For desktop PCs, go to HP Desktop PCs - Updating the BIOS.
For notebook PCs, go to HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS
-
Update the graphics driver.
Go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, enter your PC model, then select the driver for your graphics card.
-
Most games allow you to change the graphics settings. Using a lower graphic quality often improves FPS.
-
Close any applications or programs that are not being used.
-
Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Creators Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.
