Over the last few months I've noticed some weird FPS spikes in game, where I will loose full control.

I notice it more in Fortnite and BF6, BF6 being the more FPS heavy but even Fortnite I will loose complete control of my character for at least 10 secs where it will move backwards forwards etc.

All my drivers are up to date, and Windows is also up to date no "preview" updates.

I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this issue, I have Nvidia monitoring on I dont see any spikes in CPU or MEM.

temp seems to be OK, 60/70c whilst in game. I dont want to go down the route of a fresh build. I have plenty of disk space as well around 300GB spare.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, Annoyingly my warranty has just ran out .

@SyJunglist, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check Background Processes: Make sure no unnecessary applications are running in the background. These can consume valuable resources and cause performance issues.

Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower the graphics settings in your games to see if it stabilizes the FPS. This includes reducing shadow quality, texture quality, and disabling any unnecessary effects.

Ensure Adequate Cooling: Ensure your laptop is well-ventilated to prevent overheating, which can cause throttling and affect performance. Consider using a cooling pad.

NVIDIA Control Panel Settings: Access the NVIDIA Control Panel and ensure that your settings are optimized for performance. Adjust settings such as power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance" and ensure that GPU is not set to adaptive or battery-saving modes.

Network Stability: Since you're experiencing lag and control loss, check your network connection. A weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection can cause latency issues in online games. Try a wired connection if possible to improve stability.

Check for Malware: Run a full system scan to check for malware or viruses that may be affecting performance.

Game Updates: Ensure that your games are updated to the latest version, as patches often address performance issues.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
