My battery gets hot when I play games with it plugged in. I recently replaced my battery is there a setting or something I can set to stop the charge while I play games?

@DRenfro81  It would help us to help you better if you also post the full Model number or Product number.

Open the HP Support Assistant and give me your Product number.

OK Thanks, but that's the wrong number.

If you go to the Start Menu, scroll to the HP section and run the HP Support Assistant. The PRODUCT number will be listed for your PC if you click on it.

Are you sure the battery overheating, or is the cpu heating under load and making the battery feel hot?

Its safe to play plugged in. But there should be a setting in the bios to alter the amount of charge the system will cut off charging at when its full.

V7F56AV.

The did a diagnostic on it and didn't see anything when I took it in because it would lockout right after I login  but it's hot right where the battery is.

Now that I know what system you have, its an old 15-ax CTO model which we cannot look up its specs.

But considering its age, your battery will be coming to its end of life any time now.

The battery may will be heating up now and when it does, it will swell up and warp your case.

In such case, you will have to remove it and either leave it out, or buy a third party battery.
