Slow Performance on HP Pavilion 15-EC0098AX Ryzen 5

So after a long wait, I have installed HP SSD EX900 M.2 500GB PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 3D TLC NAND SSD in M.2 Slot.  Please give details or link to tutorial for copying OS to SSD. I want to use HDD as data storage and 400GB out of 500GB SSD for system .

OK then, I moved your post to its own thread as its a different subject.

To transfer your OS from one drive to another, you can clone the drive with a tool like Macrium or Aomei Backupper. Each tool has instructions on their websites on how to use their software.

But considering you were having issues with speed to begin with, I highly recommend you clean install Windows to the SSD. This will bypass what ever might have been corrupted on the old drive. You can use two different methods for this.

NOTE: If you clean install, its recommended to disconnect the old HDD first to prevent problems with the installer.

Download the HP Cloud Recovery. This will require a 32GB USB Flash drive. Here are the instructions... HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7) | HP® Customer Support

The Windows Media Creation Tool will install the basic OS without any of the HP software that came on your PC. You need an 8-32GB USB flash drive to install with. Download the installer tool to create the bootable USB. Insert the USB drive and tap the Esc key at power-on to bring up the F-key info menu. It will tell you the F-key to use for the Boot Options - should be F9.

Once you have booted into the USB installer, follow the prompts to install Windows.

Tips:

• If you wish to create an account without having to create a Microsoft sign-in acct, turn off your internet access first. Follow the prompts without internet access.
• If it asks you to enter your activation key, skip it and continue. Windows will activate after you connect to the internet and update automatically.

Once you have the SSD with Windows installed and working, you can reconnect the HDD.

Its best to wipe the drive to prevent issues with the old copy of windows interfering with boot. You would want to copy any data you wish to save, to another drive first. An external drive is the best way to do this if you have lots of files to move.

Once backed up, clean the HDD for storage.

If you don't want anything too complicated, you can use Eraser software to do this for you.

1. Run the tool and choose Eraser Schedule>New Task.
2. Click on Add Data. In the window that pops open, make the Target type Drive/Partition.
3. Under Settings, choose the secondary drive you wish to wipe.
4. Click OK and OK again.
5. The other drive will be listed in the main window. Right click on that and choose Run Now.

It will take some time depending on how big the drive is. Its slower than using command prompts, but easier for a beginner.
