Hey! Good day. I have a question about that statement: "The notebook supports max 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM (2x16GB) even if service manual mentions 16GB".

I do have a different Laptop... HP OMEN 15 ce002la BUT with the same motherboard : 838F 40.28. and EVERYwhere I look and ask they all say 16gb MAX. But I went a little further and found a codeline to write in the CMD " wmic memphysical get maxcapacity "  and that brought up system was eligible for 32gb RAM max. So i was surprised ! I was considering selling the laptop and suddenly this. So I searched everywhere for anyone who had made the upgrade...someone selling this pc with 32gb or something AND your comment was the only thing appart from that codeline supporting the idea of 32gb max instead of 16gb. Any thoughts? Any comments on that?

Hi:

I would say that model supports 2 x 16 GB of memory because it has the  i7-7700HQ processor.

Also that processor will run memory at 2400 MHz, not at the slower 2133 MHz that other 7th gen core processors run it at.

The specs on the processor are below...you will note that Intel states this processor supports 64 GB of memory.  That would be with 4 memory slots but your notebook only has two...so 32 GB would be the max.

Look at a lesser 7th gen core processor...take the i5-7200U for example.

Only supports 32 GB of memory (with 4 memory slots), and runs the memory at 2133 MHz.

You should have no problem running 2 x 16 GB of PC4-2400 memory in your model.
