Hp Omen model: 17-AN012DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Whenever I play a game, for instance beat saber, I experience excesive stuttering that disables me from playing the game. I've tried many things like updating to the latest graphics driver but nothing seems to work.

Hello @Jolama

It helps to be more specific.

Beat Saber is a VR only game. I take it you're getting lag with any VR game then, is that correct?

Does it happen only if playing on battery or when you are plugged in to the charger?

sorry for the late response, but it happens with every game I play, I was using that as an example regardless of VR or not

OK, so about my other question... Does it happen only if playing on battery or when you are plugged in to the charger?

I play games always plugged in

Did it just start recently? Did it happen after you installed something or after a recent Windows update?

There are many reasons why your FPS drops and Im not sure I can find the solution for you.

You could run the Windows Task Manager and see if anything is running in the background that is taking up resources when the stuttering happens.

Control/Alt/Delete to open the Task Manager. Click on CPU at the top its column to select it. You can see the percentage a process is taking.

You can also run the UEFI Diagnostics and see if there is a hardware issue. Run the Extensive tests for everything.

I would also open the Omen Command Center and see what your temperatures are during gaming. If its running really hot, it might be throttling.
