Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So a few months ago, I set an administator password to access the UEFI/BIOS settings, which I have since forgotten. I've tried different solutions, softwares, and unplugging the battery. None of these have worked.

I've also tried to use some HP recovery software, and written it to a USB stick. My laptop said "Boot image did not authenticate" or something like that. But if I plug in a bootable USB for fedora or ubuntu linux, it works just fine.

Is there some way to reset my BIOS without replacing the entire motherboard? (I'm not excactly swimming in cash)

Thanks.

Actually the community can not directly help you with that, because that would break the community rules. I recommend you to get in touch with hp support if you haven't do that yet. I think that they can help you recovering or resetting it without buying and soldering a new bios chip.
