Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello i've had this problem for a few months and tried to no avail to fix it. I cloned my old HDD to my samsung 850 evo ssd and no matter what I tried, the bios wouldnt detect it. It can't be a faulty ssd as i tried it with my ps4 by installing the os with recovery media and it worked.

Could it possibly be incompatible with my hardware? Replacing the ssd with the old HDD allowed it to boot normally...

@fireantasy,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the SSD is not getting detected on the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

As you have mentioned that the HDD is getting detected and boots normally and you have already tested the SSD on other device and it is working fine. It looks like the SSD is not compatible with the computer.

Below are the supported SSDs for your computer.

M.2 SATA-3 (NGFF):

● SSD, 256GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC

● SSD, 128GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, TLC

● SSD, 128GB, 2280, M.2, SATA-3, Value DRAM-less

Please refer to the below service guide for your computer for more information.

Hope that answers your question and you have a great day!
