so heres my issue i bought this laptop threw bestbuy yes i know wrong choice but i needed a quick place near my house as im a truck driver i dont get home often and the laptop came with a 1TB hdd in it but im pretty much maxxed out on storage already at 92% filled and i know theres an expansion slot for another drive specifically the ssd slot / m.2 there was a post that had a list of what ones were good and confirmed to for sure work with this laptop. does anybody have any recommendations to go with? only thing i want is to put the OS on the ssd but also use the ssd for a little bit of storage till i can upgrade the main drive. any clues?

Thank you for the additional information, @WickedTrucker89. Just what I needed.
Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the Omen. In Chapter 5 (Removal and replacement procedures for Customer Self-Repair parts), Page 44, there is a list of compatible M.2, SSD's:

Also, it has the instruction for removing and installing the SSD.

What is the full model or product number for the laptop? I need it to review the specs. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information.

awesome this helps wonderfully, now my question is this, do i have to buy one of hp's m.2 nvme cards or can i go with a aftermarket one? im eyeing the samsun 970 pro because it has a bit of extra storage i can utulize for updates and other files, or is this laptop built to only be upgradable threw hp parts?

You can use the Samsung M.2, SSD. If you have further questions on compatibility of the SSD with the HP motherboard, I suggest that you contact Samsung's Tech Support for help. They are the experts on their products.
