Hi @Oliver931,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing screen flickering and the laptop entering sleep mode while playing high-intensity games on your HP Victus 16 gaming laptop, tI would request you to please follow the steps:

Check Display Refresh Rate

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced display settings.
  • Ensure the refresh rate is set to the panel’s native (often 144Hz on Victus models).
  • Some users report flickering at 60Hz but stability at 144Hz

Disable Panel Self‑Refresh

  • Open Intel Graphics Command Center (if using Intel iGPU).
  • Under Power settings, disable Panel Self Refresh. This prevents the display from “sleeping” during low activity.

Update/Reinstall GPU Drivers

  • Even if updated, try a clean reinstall:
  • Use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode.
  • Reinstall the latest NVIDIA/AMD drivers directly from their site (not Windows Update).
  • This clears corruption that can cause flicker and sleep triggers.

Reduce Background Applications:

  • Close unnecessary background applications during gameplay to free up resources.
  • Use the Booster feature in OMEN Gaming Hub, which can automatically close nonessential apps when a game is launched.

Take care and have an amazing day!
