My HP omen 17 was sitting on my table, and the screen just went blank. I tried restarting a few times and connected it to an external display, and it showed up there. But it wouldn't even recognize any internal display - tried updating drivers, rolling back drivers, etc. than it stopped showing anything on the external display. Tried everything, reseated the cable, swapped ram etc. Also this website won't let me input my OS or product type for some reason. Windoes 11, 17-ck1020nr

Hi @Shrox,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Hard Reset:

  • Unplug and Disconnect: Ensure the laptop is unplugged from any power sources and disconnect all external devices.
  • Battery Removal: Remove the battery (if possible), then press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.
  • Power: Reconnect the battery and power supply and attempt to start the laptop.

External Display Connection:

  • Check Connections: Ensure the external display is connected properly and powered on.
  • Try using a different cable or a different external display if available.

Reseat Components:

  • RAM: Remove and reseat the RAM sticks. Try starting the laptop with just one RAM stick if there are multiple.
  • Check Connections: Confirm that all internal cables are securely connected, especially the display cable.

BIOS Recovery:

  • BIOS Reset: Attempt to reset the BIOS to default settings. This can often be done by pressing a specific key at startup (usually F10 or Esc).

Recovery from Black Screen Issues:

  • Windows Key: Press the Windows key + B key while holding the power button for 2-3 seconds. Release the power button but keep holding the Windows + B keys.
  • BIOS Recovery: If the device attempts a BIOS recovery, follow the on-screen instructions.

Component Testing:

  • Remove Peripherals: Disconnect any non-essential peripherals such as USB devices or SD cards.
  • Check Response: Remove the battery (if possible) and use the laptop on AC power alone.

Driver Issues:

HP Support Assistant:

  • Installation: Install and use HP Support Assistant for automatic updates and diagnostics. You can download it from HP Support Assistant if it's not already installed.

I hope this helps.
