Gaming Pavilion 15

Hi,

This is my first post here. I'm about to buy a new laptop and HP Gaming Pavilion 15-dk0014no is a premium candidate. It's available at a good price with a good discount where I live (Sweden). But HP, neither sales nor tech support, can answer my question: is it possible to install a second ssd? It comes with a  256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD ( for full specs: https://store.hp.com/SwedenStore/Merch/Product.aspx?id=6RJ97EA&opt=UUW&sel=NTB) and I would like to add a second ssd. It has to be a silent disk, not a spinning hdd. From what I understand the Gaming Pavilion 15-dk comes with numerous different configurations in other countries, many of them including a second hdd. But can that second drive be a ssd and do I need any extra parts to install it? Or are any other modifications necessary?

It has a bay/slot for 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD BUT you need the following 2 parts (page 37 of the manual)

  • The hard drive cable is available using spare part number L56898-001.
  • The hard drive brackets are not available as a spare part

Unfortunately the second part is not available  nor the first part

Therefore you have to pick other option: replace 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD with 1TB or 2TB (single sided)

Regards.

Thank you so much for clarifying that. This means that I might as well go for a laptop with a larger ssd from the start.
