HP Thunderbolt Dock 280W G4 w/Combo Cable
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have both products

HP Thunderbolt 280W G4 Docking Station with Card Cable

Omen by Gaming Laptop 16-wd0xxx

and two monitors on the dock, one HDMI and the other DisplayPort.

The dock is connected to the computer via the power supply and USB-C.

Everything works except the two monitors. I've updated all versions of the dock and the computer, as well as reset Windows 24H2 (64-bit).

Still nothing.

Thank you for your help.

Sincerely,

Patrick

@PatrickGrim, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Display Issues with HP Thunderbolt Dock G4!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If both monitors are not functioning when connected via the HDMI and DisplayPort on your HP Thunderbolt 280W G4 Docking Station, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Verify Connections:

  • Ensure that all cables are securely connected to their respective ports on the dock and the monitors.
  • Confirm that the dock is properly connected to the laptop's Thunderbolt port using the correct cable.

Check Monitor Input:

  • Make sure the monitors are set to the correct input source (HDMI for one and DisplayPort for the other).

Reset Dock and Monitors:

  • Disconnect all cables from the dock, including power.
  • Wait for about 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable, then reconnect to the laptop and monitors.

Update Drivers:

  • Double-check that all drivers for the dock, Thunderbolt, graphics, and monitors on your Omen Gaming Laptop are up-to-date. You can visit the HP Support Page for the latest drivers.

Change Display Configuration:

  • Go to Windows Settings > System > Display.
  • Scroll down to the "Multiple displays" section and try detecting displays manually.
  • Adjust display settings such as resolution and refresh rate to see if they impact functionality.

Use One Monitor at a Time:

  • Disconnect one monitor and see if the other works independently. Test each monitor individually to verify they function correctly when connected alone.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
