Microsoft Windows 11

Hey there. Recently one of my RAM modules went bad, so I've gone ahead and ordered crucial's 2x16gb modules to make an upgrade while I repair. I'm wondering if there is good options for me to upgrade my internal cooling system and my storage to at least 1tb while I've got the case open. I'll likely be re-applying thermal paste, is there a manufacturer recommended paste? Thanks in advance.

Hi @40wattscott

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Upgrading your RAM, cooling system, and storage are all great ways to boost your system's performance, especially while you already have the case open for the RAM replacement. Let’s go over each of these upgrades and some recommendations:

1. Internal Cooling System Upgrade

Upgrading your cooling system is a smart move, particularly if you plan on overclocking your CPU or if you're working in a warmer environment. Here are a few options depending on your system and budget:

CPU Cooling:

Air Coolers: These are typically easier to install and offer solid performance for most users.

  • Noctua NH-D15: One of the best air coolers out there. Extremely effective and quiet, but it's large, so make sure your case can accommodate it.
  • be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4: Excellent performance with very low noise. It’s a bit smaller than the Noctua, but still a premium air cooler.
  • Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition: If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, this is a good choice for modest cooling needs.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
