Hello and thanks for looking at this post. I need help, as this problem is becoming so frustrating. I've had this laptop less than a year, and I've just run out of warranty so I feel like I'm SOL on getting parts repaired or replaced or even diagnosed without being charged out the wazoo.
I have a HP OMEN FLAGSHIP W200 17 with the following specs:
Windows 10 64bit
GTX 1070 8GB
24 GB RAM
i7 7700HQ @ 2.80GHz
I sent the laptop back to HP after talking with them on the phone about a month and a half ago, they had my laptop for nearly a week and a half and replaced the motherboard, the power socket, and then sent it back to me. The issue was solved - until now. It's come back, the same issue I was having and I don't know what's causing it and I'd like to try and figure out what I can do to test or fix it before I get HP back on the phone, as I unfortunately also use this laptop for work and it's extremely tough to not have it for a week or longer.
The issue: When running games such as SMITE, Starcraft II, DOTA 2, Escape from Tarkov, and such - I experience stutters and FPS drops that last anywhere for 1-7 seconds. I've monitored my CPU and my GPU heat. My cores rest at about 40-43 celsius and my GPU stays around 48-50. When I look at task manager after each spike or drop, I notice that my CPU shows that it's being completely used up at 100%.
I've updated my GPU drivers, and also downgraded where I was before when I got the laptop back the first time when I had no issues. I've updated the BiOS and that hadn't changed anything either. The only thing that I can't change is a forced Windows update that happened around the same time the stutters and FPS drops came back, and it auto-installs each time I remove them from the update history.
I've stress tested the laptop as well, and nothing out of the ordinary came up. If you have any suggestions or possible solutions, I'm all ears as I'd really like to get this taken care off sooner rather than later. I appreciate all advice!
