Does my laptop support a charger other than the 120W charger, higher power. The TGP of my laptop with dynamic boost switched on shows 50W.

Hi @Hrishi12,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you’re asking whether your HP Victus 15-fb3025 can support a charger with higher wattage than 120W, and if doing so could help increase your GPU TGP (from 50W to 75W). Let’s go through the details below:
1. Supported Charger Wattage
Your HP Victus 15-fb3025 officially supports a 120W Smart AC Adapter (barrel pin type) — typically the HP 4.5mm blue-tip 120W charger (Part No: 741727-003 / L32661-001).
You can safely use a higher-wattage HP Smart Adapter (135W or 150W) as long as the voltage and connector type match.
The laptop will draw only as much power as it’s designed for, so a 150W adapter won’t damage the system.
However, the firmware power limits (PL1/PL2 and GPU TGP) are locked at the BIOS/EC level, not by the charger wattage alone.
2. GPU TGP and Power Delivery
Your RTX 2050 (or 3050, depending on variant) in the Victus 15-fb3025 is limited to a maximum 50W TGP with Dynamic Boost.
The TGP ceiling is firmware-defined, meaning even if you use a 150W or 200W adapter, the GPU won’t exceed the limit.
HP tunes this for thermal safety and board power design — raising it requires an unlocked BIOS, which HP systems don’t provide for consumer laptops.
3. USB-C Charging (if applicable)
Some Victus models support USB-C Power Delivery (PD) up to 100W, but that’s for charging only, not performance boost.
If you use a USB-C charger, the GPU and CPU will run at reduced limits compared to the barrel charger, since 100W PD isn’t enough to match full 120W system power.
4. Recommended Action
Continue using the original 120W HP adapter or a certified HP 135W/150W Smart Adapter if you want better thermal stability during long gaming or rendering sessions.
To ensure consistent performance, keep your power plan on “Best Performance”, enable Hybrid mode in OMEN Gaming Hub, and make sure your BIOS and GPU drivers are up to date.
I hope this helps.
