The battery of my laptop is swollen. Why?

What is HP doing about this potential explosive "bomb"?

Would there be a global recall?

If overcharging is the cause, I think technology has come of age to have an overcharging prevention mechanism in-built. Or I suggest the power supply system should by default set to charge not more than 80%. Also, there should be proper sensitization to customers as regards this overcharging palaver with HP laptops.

Truly, I am somewhat disappointed about buying this laptop. Just barely a year after purchase I was terribly disappointed during a business deal presentation...the battery simply stopped working unexpectedly.

I hope to get some help, please!

Thank you!

Hi @etemigarba,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!
