The right side of the keyboard where the battery is located is bulging

For several months the area of the laptop where the battery is has been "bulging" for lack of a better way to describe the issue.  Now that bulge is beginning to extend into the keyboard area and the laptop doesn't close properly.  I'm worried that it's a battery issue and don't know how to proceed.  The laptop functions fine but this can't be good.

Your battery may need to be replaced. If it is still under warranty, you can send it to your local repair center.
