Hi @Dexter36, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering two separate issues with your HP Victus 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop.

  1. Brightness Adjustment Issue:
    • The keyboard's brightness controls not working could be due to several factors:
      • Ensure that the HP Omen Control or HP Quick Launch Buttons software is installed and up to date, as it can control the brightness.
      • Check your Function (Fn) key settings to make sure you are pressing the correct key combination (e.g., Fn + F7 or Fn + F8) for brightness adjustments.
      • Update your display drivers through Device Manager or via the HP website.
      • Try adjusting brightness through Windows Settings > System > Display > Brightness and color to see if that works independently of the keyboard shortcuts.

  2. Audio Issue (Bursting Bass):
    • Audio issues like this can happen due to faulty drivers or settings:
      • Try updating your audio drivers from the Device Manager or from the HP website.
      • Right-click the speaker icon in the system tray, and go to Sound Settings. Under Advanced sound options, adjust the Output device properties and make sure the correct speakers or headphones are selected.
      • Go to Control Panel > Sound, then right-click the playback device and check for enhancements. If you see any settings for bass boosts or other enhancements, try disabling them and see if that resolves the issue.
      • If you use Dolby Audio or other audio enhancement software, try disabling it temporarily to test if the audio improves.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
