I noticed that my 2 months old victus laptop's full charge capacity has been dropped to 68wh from 70wh . I usually charge my laptop upto 90% . Is it fine or any thing to be tensed about ? I only uses it for my studies .I have never played any game in it .

I have never faced any heating issues during these 2 months while using it .

Hi @ROSHAN__MISHRA

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's completely normal for the battery capacity of a laptop to decrease slightly over time, especially in the first few months of usage. The drop from 70Wh to 68Wh in your 2-month-old HP Victus laptop is relatively small and falls within the expected range of battery wear and tear. Here's why this happens and whether you should be concerned:

1. Battery Wear and Aging

  • Batteries are consumables: Lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in laptops, naturally lose capacity as they go through charge cycles. Over time, the total capacity will gradually decline, but this usually happens slowly.
  • Small drop is normal: A 2% drop in capacity (from 70Wh to 68Wh) in just two months is minimal and shouldn't be a cause for concern. It can be attributed to the natural process of battery aging, which happens even with proper care.

2. Charging Habits

  • Charging to 90%: Charging your battery up to 90% is actually a good practice for preserving its lifespan, as charging to full capacity (100%) all the time can wear the battery out faster. This is especially true for lithium-ion batteries, which tend to degrade faster when consistently charged to full.
  • Avoid deep discharges: Try not to let your battery drain to 0% frequently. Keeping your battery between 20% and 80% for regular use is ideal.

3. No Overheating Issues

  • Absence of heating issues: It's a good sign that you're not experiencing any overheating, as excessive heat can significantly shorten battery life. Since your laptop hasn't shown any signs of overheating, you're likely taking good care of it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
