Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're noticing a slight uneven gap on the right side of your HP Victus 15 laptop when the lid is closed, as well as a faint noise when closing it. Since the laptop is under warranty and only two months old, it’s a good idea to address these concerns early, just in case there's an underlying issue. Here's what to consider:
1. Uneven Lid Gap:
- Check for pressure: Gently press on the lid and see if the gap on the right side changes. If it closes evenly with a bit of pressure, it might just be a slight misalignment due to how the lid was assembled. However, if it remains noticeably off and you cannot fix it with light pressure, it could indicate an issue with the hinge or the lid's assembly.
2. Noise When Closing the Lid:
- Normal sound: It’s not uncommon for laptops to make a faint sound when closing the lid, especially if the hinges are tight or the laptop has a metallic chassis. The sound could also come from the hinge mechanism or the latch.
- Unusual sound: If the sound is more like a creaking, grinding, or scraping, it could indicate that something is misaligned or that the hinges may need lubrication or adjustment. This could also be a sign of an issue with the hinge or lid assembly.
3. Is It a Cause for Concern?
- If the gap and sound are minor and don’t seem to be affecting the overall functionality or structure of the laptop, it might not be an immediate cause for concern. Some variation in gaps can happen during manufacturing.
- However, if the gap is significantly uneven or if the sound is loud, grinding, or harsh, this could indicate an issue with the hinge assembly or lid alignment. These problems could lead to further wear or damage if not addressed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
