Ive tried to get a bios update by formatting a usb disk to fat32 and downloading the .exe file

When I tried to use that it said unrecognized format. The 4gb sandisk does show up in the drive list on the other tab

If I select flash from network - it connects to Hp site but fails on "bios catalog xml header uses unexpected format" and then blinks  away.

The existing bios is from 2014 - I need to get to up to date. I can add another url in the auto bios update. Of send me a link and instructions on how to get and install it. Im using centos linux online did not list linux

product# F5E87UP#ABA

You're very welcome.

This would be the last BIOS update HP released for the 600 G1 model series, but HP has removed it from all of the 600 G1 support pages for some reason.

Info:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp103501-104000/sp103785.html

Exe:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp103501-104000/sp103785.exe

The notes on the info link I posted indicate that the update is rated 'Critical' by HP.

There are 3 'Purpose' levels:  Routine, Recommended and Critical

You cannot go back to any previous versions after v2.78 has been installed, so you may want to think about this for a bit before proceeding.

Hi:

You can update the BIOS very easily.

If you don't have a Windows PC, download the free 7-Zip file utility and use that to unzip the BIOS exe file into its file folder.

Download (7-zip.org)

Get a USB flash drive.

Format it with the FAT 32 file system.

Open the unzipped BIOS exe file and copy all of the files inside the DOS flash folder to the flash drive.

Just the files, not the folder itself.

Once that is done, restart the PC.

Immediately press the ESC key to get the menu of options.

Select the F10 Setup option and press the Enter key.

Select the File tab>Flash System ROM command.

Select the USB flash drive.

The PC should 'see' the files on the flash drive.

Follow the onscreen instructions to update the BIOS.

You can also follow this procedure using a Windows PC.

Thanks for the reply, I did that, but the update I had only took it to 2018 and did not help with my issue with slow usb "3" ports. I need the most/more recent, but since Ive added my pc into the hp support system and queries on the computer comes back "expired".

Any ideas where I cab get the most current bios update for serial 2UA5282NXN aka 2014 Bios On HP ProDesk 600 G1 SFF

TIA
