Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Okay so, I've had my gaming laptop since april-may (I don't remember exactly when i got it)

And at some point i broke it's screen because of my stupid mistake, (must say it's not a big damge and it's an inside screen damage so it's not on the surface) and since then i started using an external monitor. And the problem is updating, whenever there's an update that requires restart and i restart it and the external monitor goes black after some loading. Then it stays black and I can't know what's happening. And even if the update is finished and loads back to the lock/home screen it still remains black and requires a restart. So my question is, how can i do these updates with no problem and keep the external monitor on all the time? It happenes with the windows update, gpu driver,HP program updates.

Thanks in advance to anyone who tries to help, and btw i don't close the laptop's lid while updating. Also because of the whole corona thing I can't really go and fix the laptop screen.
