HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-dk0007la
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello community, I am trying to upgrade the storage on my laptop (HP Pavilion - 15-dk0007la).

But I don´t know the PCIe supported. 😅

I collected some information from SPECCY:

This is the motherboard - 85FB (U3E1), with support for PCI-E Gen 3 x4.

Is this true? Can I only upgrade the SSD as long as it is PCIe Gen 3?

I also want to upgrade the SSHD, but I don't know if this laptop is able to use a 2TB 2,5" SSD (SSD WD Blue SA510 - 2TB)

Is this laptop able to use a SSD?

Thank you so much for your time 🙂

Hi:

Your notebook's M.2 slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

While a Gen 4.0 SSD will work fine, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gen 3 slot.

With today's notebooks you can usually look up the processor specs on the AMD or Intel websites, as applicable, to find the PCIe connectivity specifications.

Here is the processor info for your notebook's processor and it indicates the connectivity is PCIe 3.0.

Intel® Core™ i7-9750H Processor

The specs indicate that your notebook came with a 1 TB mechanical hard drive, so yes you can replace that with a 2 TB 2.5" SATA SSD such as the WD Blue SA510.

Below is the link to the service manual:

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.
