Hello im looking to install new ram on my laptop i have searched on crucial and it suggests to get a 16 gb ddr4 ram on 3200mhz cas latency 22 but i have found that the intel core i7 8550u says it supports 2400mhz ddr4. Should i look for a 3200mhz ram ? Where can i see for sure what is the max ram speed that my laptop supports?

Thank you for your time!

Hi:

Your notebook's  i7-8550u processor can only run the memory at a maximum speed of 2400 MHz.

While a DDR4-3200 memory chip will work fine, it will automatically bridge to 2400 MHz.

You can find the memory speed the processor can handle at the link below...

Intel® Core™ i7-8550U Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.00 GHz)
