Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb1000 (7Y8M8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I purchased this laptop 1 month ago, and I used it for normal office works, I've noticed that whenever I play a graphic intensive game, my laptop CPU temp (Ryzen 5 7535hs) goes above 90° C. Using MSI Afterburner tool and OMEN gaming hub tool I observed, when I play games like Witcher 3, GTA V, Crew 2, Dead Island 2, it's always above 95° C regardless high, medium or low graphic preset. sometimes 98° C. When I reduced the resolution to 720p the temp drops by 4 - 10° C. for my surprise the GPU temp (RTX 2050 4GB) never go above 75° C even in Ultra graphics. when CPU temp goes to 98° game fps drops.  My laptop fans are also running very fast making huge noise. I've even tried setting fan speed at maximum using Omen tool but did nothing better.
for Games like GTAV, reducing graphics make CPU temp low. but what gaming experience in playing low graphics.
playing in very very low graphics setting reduce the CPU temp only a little bit. I didn't purchase this gaming laptop to play in low graphics. this is in high graphics 720p. others with same laptop get 60 fps while mine only 44this is in high graphics 720p. others with same laptop get 60 fps while mine only 44
Above picture I sent show that the game in high 720 p setting cause 44fps and 97 temp. players playing on same laptop in 1080p high preset settings cause 60 fps and only 83° C temp.  please see the YouTube video from the link I provided below.
This can't be normal. I saw that maximum temp of this CPU should not pass 95° C.  Also playing at 95° for an extended time period could damage my device, right? Dust build up couldn't be, as i still used only for a month.
https://youtu.be/0DuncYNEFJI   as in this video being the same laptop, its CPU temp never goes beyond 85 even in high 1080p settings. what's going on with my laptop. Thankyou

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Keeping Your Victus 15 Laptop Cool While Gaming!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It's common for laptops, especially gaming laptops, to experience high temperatures during intensive tasks such as gaming. However, consistent temperatures around 90°C or higher can cause concern and potentially lead to hardware issues if not managed effectively. Here are some tips to help manage the temperature of your HP Victus 15 laptop:

Utilize OMEN Gaming Hub for System Monitoring

The OMEN Gaming Hub can be a great resource in managing your laptop's temperature. The System Vitals section of the OMEN Gaming Hub provides early warnings if your computer is on the verge of overheating, detailing the CPU and GPU temperatures.

Ventilation and Play Surface

Proper ventilation is crucial for maintaining optimal temperatures. Ensure your laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface during gaming sessions. Avoid playing on beds, couches, or blankets, as these surfaces can block air vents and lead to overheating.

Clean the Laptop Internals

Accumulated dust inside the laptop can restrict airflow, causing higher temperatures. Periodically cleaning your laptop by using canned air and a microfiber cloth can help maintain its cooling efficiency. Here is a brief step-by-step:

  1. Turn off and unplug the laptop.
  2. Place the laptop on a soft flat surface with the underside facing up.
  3. Remove the screws and bottom cover carefully.
  4. Use canned air and a microfiber cloth to clean off any dust inside the laptop.

Manage Applications

Using the Task Manager, you can close unnecessary applications that may be running in the background and utilizing CPU resources, thereby reducing the load on your system. To access Task Manager:

  1. Right-click on the taskbar and select "Task Manager".
  2. Navigate to the "Processes" tab.
  3. Identify and close applications with high CPU usage.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
