Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (8B483AV)

Hey,

I bought a HP Victus 15 laptop about 9 months ago and recently I've been experiencing poor performance. Running UEFI diagnostics reveals that my laptop is running in reduced performance mode, since the power apter eating is below system requirements, even though I am using the original charger which came with the laptop. The charger seems to be working fine, in a sense that it charges my laptop and does not have any visible damage. Is there any way to solve this issue or do I just need to get another charger?

@Ohlee123, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Reduced Performance Mode on Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It seems that your HP Victus 15 laptop might not be getting sufficient power, thus triggering the reduced performance mode even with the original charger. Here are a few suggestions to address this issue:

Check the Charger:

  • Ensure your charger is connected securely to your laptop and the power outlet.
  • Inspect the charger and cable for any damage or wear and tear that might affect performance.

Use the Correct Charger:

  • Verify that the charger specifications match the requirements for your laptop. Using a charger with lower power specifications can lead to performance issues.
  • For the Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop, ensure you are using a charger with the correct wattage and amperage as specified in your user manual or product documentation.

Update System Drivers and BIOS:

  • Make sure your system drivers, especially the chipset and power management drivers, are up to date.
  • Consider updating the BIOS to the latest version available on the HP support website, as it may contain fixes for power management.

Test with Another Compatible Charger:

  • If possible, test your laptop with another compatible HP charger to rule out any issues with the charger itself.

Inspect Power Settings:

  • Check your power settings in Windows. Ensure that the power mode is set to 'Balanced' or 'High Performance' rather than 'Power Saver'.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
