Want to Install HDD/SSD, what do I need?

HP Recommended
Omen 15-dc1058wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this laptop and it has no secondary drive, just the m2 drive with the os. What will I need in order to install a HDD/SSD, and what size does it need to be for this model? Thanks in advance and let me know if more info is needed.

Hello @0brady0

Yes, you can add a 2.5 inch HDD. What ever capacity you install, the thickness of the HDD cannot be over 9.5mm thick. Usually up to 2TB HDDs are this thickness, but anything over is thicker. Make sure to ready the specs of what ever drive you install. If you go with a 2.5 inch Sata SSD, you are good to go and those are of course a lot faster.

BUT you will need the cable harness and brackets to mount it with.

Here are the part numbers if you do...

Hard drive cable connector   929450-001

Hard drive brackets                929561-001

If you cannot find these on a google search, you can order them via the HP Parts Store...

Here is your manual...
