We do not work for or represent HP.

HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the PC leaves the assembly plant.

So the longer the time elapses from assembly date to the purchase date, the less time remains on the warranty.

Please contact HP customer service beginning at the link below and submit a support request to have the warranty start and end dates adjusted to the date you purchased the notebook.

That actually happens quite often with HP devices — it’s not a defect, just a mismatch in the warranty activation record. HP usually starts the warranty from the manufacture or shipment date, not the actual purchase date.

If you just bought it today, you can easily get it corrected:

  1. Go to HP’s warranty check page

  2. Click “Dispute incorrect warranty start date.”

  3. Upload a copy of your purchase invoice or receipt showing the real purchase date.

HP will verify it and adjust your warranty start date within a few days.

So no worries — it’s common, especially for laptops that were stored or shipped months earlier before being sold.
