What is the PCIe version in the HP Pavilion Gaming 17-cd1088ur laptop

A PCI e 3.0 x4 disk is currently installed. If you install a PCIe 4.0 x4 disk, will it work at full speed?

It came with PCIe Gen 3x4

No, you have to built new "highway" to be able to run faster.
