Hp, what type of m.2 drive and ram will be compatible with my 15-cx0056wm laptop. It is a Walmart Black Friday sale. And I have removed the back cover and it does indeed have a m.2 slot and 2 ram slots so I would like to upgrade.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you need information and assistance related to upgrading RAM and SSD on your HP Pavilion 15 gaming laptop. Don't worry I'll be glad to assist you.
I did go through the Product specifications and found that your PC was shipped with 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) Memory and 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA Hard drive.
Please go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your notebook and here are few findings:
Memory Module - Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots - Hence it's not recommended to upgrade.
DDR4-2666 dual channel support (8750H/8300H processors)
DDR4-2400 dual channel support (8550U/8250U processors)
However, it Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:
● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1)
Next thing, regarding the SSD, there is a M.2 Slot available for SSD on your PC.
Please note these parts which are listed here are the ones which are tested and compatible on your PC.
If you wish to try other parts you can try it at your own discretion, HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance.
Alternatively, You could replace the part on your own, use the HP Partsurfer to identify the part: Click here & order it via the HP Parts store (Click here).
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
