OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wd000 (7B9S0AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When VALORANT is opened, the whole computer seems to stop working. A few days ago, nothing was wrong. I formatted it via Windows and it was fixed. The next day, I encountered the same problem again.

Hi @mrtsrvn,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  1. When VALORANT freezes the laptop, do you see a black screen, full system freeze, or automatic restart?
  2. Did this start after a Windows update, driver update, or VALORANT update?
  3. Are you running Windows 10 fully updated, or are you on an older build?
  4. Does the problem happen with any other games, or only VALORANT?
  5. Do you see any errors in Event Viewer → System around the time of the freeze?

Kindly try the following steps :

1.Update GPU drivers (both Intel & NVIDIA)

The OMEN 16-wd000 uses hybrid graphics Valorant uses both Intel and NVIDIA drivers, and outdated or mismatched versions can freeze the system.

  1. Update Intel GPU Driver (very important)
  2. Update NVIDIA GeForce Driver (Game Ready)

You can get them via:

  • OMEN Gaming Hub → Update drivers
  • Intel Driver & Support Assistant
  • GeForce Experience

 3. Turn on Secure Boot + TPM

VALORANT requires both Secure Boot and TPM to function correctly.

Steps:

  1. Restart → press F10 for BIOS
  2. Under Security, ensure:
    • Secure Boot = Enabled
    • TPM Device = Available / Enabled

Restart and try again.

 4. Check for Windows corruption

Since formatting fixed it temporarily, Windows files may be corrupting again after update.

Run these commands (as Administrator):

sfc /scannow

then:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Restart afterward.

5. Disable full-screen optimizations

Right-click VALORANT → Properties → Compatibility:

  •  Disable Fullscreen Optimizations
  •  Enable High DPI scaling override

6. Reinstall HP OMEN Gaming Hub system drivers

Go to the HP driver page for your model → install:

  • HP System Event Utility
  • BIOS update
  • Intel Dynamic Tuning Driver
  • AMD/Intel Chipset Driver

I hope this helps
