Hey guys, I have pulled apart my hp pav ec0102ax, found it’s only got one stick of 8gb ram, I’ve read you can apply x2 16gb of ram, but how do you know which sticks are compatible, I’ve seen similar one that look the same e.g crucial brand, would I just have to match the mhz rate? In this instance 2400mhz? Thanks for any help!

Hi:
I would go with Crucial memory.
Either of these kits should work:
Crucial 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT2K16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com
Crucial 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM | CT2K16G4SFD824A | Crucial.com
The DDR4-3200 memory would automatically bridge to 2400 MHz, because that is as fast as your notebook's processor can run the memory at.
HP may have installed DDR4-3200 memory in your notebook according to chapter 1 of the service manual:
Maintenance and Service Guide HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop PC
Memory is plug and play. No need to do anything but install the memory.

Thankyou so much for the assistance on this one! I received and installed the ram, It works perfectly and has already made a significant difference 🙂
I'm now looking at upgrading the HDD and SSD to 1tb each, I installed x2 games and memory is full already hahaha... do you see any concerns with this? Or recommend any ssd/hdd... I'm guessing the GPU/Motherboard should be okay to support both.
AGAIN CANT THANKYOU Enough! 🙂

Anytime.
Glad the memory upgrade worked fine.
You should be fine with installing a larger capacity 2.5" drive and you can replace the 256 GB NVMe SSD with one having a greater storage capacity.
A 1 TB NVMe SSD was even offered in the model series if you look at chapter 1 of the service manual.
I recommend a Samsung 980 NVMe SSD if it is available in Australia, and if you want to install a 2.5" SATA SSD, the Western Digital Blue SA510 would be my recommendation.
