HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0059ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear Community and HP,

I had this HP Pavilion Gaming 15 for a few months now. Gaming experience is very bad for Dota 2, CS GO and etc.

I thought it was Ram issue, then I added another 8GB Ram exactly the same specification, so total im running at usable of 13.9GB ram.

After several windows update, now windows started to lag, even using Edge for browsing. I have change performance to best performance for my graphic and also windows, power setting as well. I have reset the laptop 2 times using windows creation tool, timely update of firmware and drivers, however, the issue persist.

The gaming laptop is not game-able at all. please assist. thank you.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Firstly perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant:

Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool. 1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon. 2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane. 3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates. 4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional. 5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size. 6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

and, also BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629

Hi Betty, thanks for your help and instruction. There is a good news and bad news after i follow the steps.

After follow the instructions and installed the new bios from HP Support:-

Good news - the computer became very smooth and there is no lag/shuttering/flickering during gaming the next day after installing the new bios.

Bad news - the problem came back the day after the good news, windows back to slightly slower, but gaming is bad - lagging/stuttering.

Not sure what went wrong, everything is up to date - drivers, windows and HP.

Anything else can I do?

Did you try adding the game to High performances in the Nvidia control panel?

Download GEFORCE EXPERIENCE updates the gaming drivers:

Turn on Game Mode. Game Mode is a new feature in Windows 10 Update that improves gaming performance by limiting background processes and programs from using system resources while a game is running.     Press the Windows key and G to open the Game bar.   In the game bar, click Settings. Click the check box next to the game title to enable Game Mode for that game.   Plug notebook PCs into an AC adapter to give the graphics card more power.

Let me know if this helps.
