Hi @Selçuk2

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry your camera stopped working after the Windows 11 23H2 and Quality Preview update—especially when you need it urgently for meetings. Since privacy settings are already enabled and the driver update didn’t help, let’s walk through a clean recovery path to restore camera functionality on your Victus by HP 15-fa1000.

Step-by-step actions to fix camera not detected (Error 0xA00F4244)

1. Confirm camera visibility in Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X > Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
    • If your camera is missing, click View > Show hidden devices.
    • If it appears with a yellow triangle, right-click > Uninstall device, then restart your laptop.

If the camera still doesn’t appear, continue with the next steps.

2. Enable camera in UEFI diagnostics

  1. Power off your laptop.
  2. Power it on and immediately press F2 repeatedly to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  3. Go to Component Tests > Camera.
  4. Run the test and confirm if the camera is detected.

If the camera is not listed, it may be disabled at the firmware level or affected by the update.

3. Install the latest camera driver and firmware

  • Visit:
    HP Victus 15-fa1000 Drivers
  • Download and install:
    • Camera Driver (usually under “Driver – Keyboard, Mouse, and Input Devices”)
    • BIOS Update (under “BIOS”)
  • Restart your laptop after installation.

4. Run the Diagnose & Fix tool

5. Check Windows Camera App permissions

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both turned on.
  3. Scroll down and confirm that Camera is enabled for the apps you use (e.g., Zoom, Teams).

Let me know how the system responds after these steps. If the camera still isn’t detected, we can explore rollback options or alternate input devices for your meetings.

You’ve done everything right by staying proactive—I’ll be here to guide you further if needed.

[Recall]

  • [NEW] We’re working on the fix for an issue causing some Insiders to see a message saying they don’t have an eligible camera for Recall when they do.  windows update note

Unfortunately it didn't work and I think it was caused by Windows update. im insider member

Thanks for the update, @Selçuk2. Since you're part of the Windows Insider Program and the issue began right after installing the 23H2 Quality Preview update, it's very likely that the update introduced a regression affecting camera detection—especially with the mention of Recall-related camera eligibility errors.

Here’s how you can move forward quickly:

1. Temporarily Roll Back the Update

Since this is urgent and the camera worked before the update:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates
  • Look for the most recent Quality Preview or Feature Update to 23H2
  • Select it and click Uninstall
  • Restart your system and test the camera again

This is the fastest way to restore functionality while Microsoft works on a fix.

2. Pause Insider Updates

To prevent reinstallation:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Windows Insider Program
  • Choose Stop getting preview builds (you can opt to pause or leave the program temporarily)
  • Or, Pause updates for 7 days under Windows Update settings

3. Use an External USB Webcam (Temporary Workaround)

If rollback isn’t possible or doesn’t help, using a plug-and-play USB webcam can get you through meetings until the internal camera issue is resolved.

4. Report the Bug to Microsoft

Since this is affecting multiple Insiders:

  • Open Feedback Hub (Win + F)
  • Search for “camera not detected after 23H2” and upvote similar reports
  • Or submit your own with logs and screenshots

This helps prioritize the fix.

Let me know if you’d like help with rollback steps or finding a compatible external webcam. I’ll stay with you until your camera is back in action.
