HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I  keep getting pop ups telling me to activate my Windows 10 product. I purchased my laptop  1 month ago with Windows 10 pre installed and have no idea where I would find the activation code.

Any Ideas

Hello @Ryanthemusefan

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

For computers which come with original Windows preinstalled by the PC vendor, this license is known as OEM license.

Years ago on older PCs with Windows XP, Vista, 7, Microsoft provided a COA sticker where the license key was written. However, since Windows 8 (in 8, 8.1 and 10), the license key is stored into the PC BIOS. Here is more info >> http://www.cnet.com/news/windows-8-moves-to-bios-based-product-keys/

If everything is OK with the BIOS, you can extract the key using a software like ProduKey

Download ProduKey from Nirsoft >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/product_cd_key_viewer.html

x86 Windows >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey.zip

x64 Windows >> http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/produkey-x64.zip

Extract the archive and run the program.

It will open and show you the available keys it detects. Does it detect your BIOS and Windows key(s) ? Does it says Windows version ?  Take a picture of the codes and write them down. Do not post them here, just keep them for yourself.

Use this code (BIOS Windows key) to enter when asked to activate. Ensure you are activated in Start -> Settings -> Updates & Security -> Activation
