I own HP Transcend 14 inch 2024 model

after long day of work had the laptop down to 5% battery accidentally plugged in my Samsung  charger in the back for few minutes instead of my 144W Hp original charger and after noticing  mistake I made immediately plugged in the original and noticed it wasn't charging anymore with the original or giving signs of charge, I powerd off the laptop manually while I still had 4% battery and tried to hold the power button for 15-20 sec, then for 1min and then once even longer than a minute to reset or whatever I read & found on support HP pages on internet to reset it, but still on the back it only blink white when I try to power it on, after hours of charge it still doesn't boot up, the laptop is barely used and 4months old, what's the issue or how to fix it, I Live in LATVIA, AND NOT IN THE CAPITAL SO TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS NOT NEAR ME AND THIS CAN'T BE TRUE THAT THE LAPTOP IS BROKEN AFTER MAX 10 USES!!!!! PLS HELP ME UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION, LAPTOP COST ME 2,7 K Swiss francs and it can't be this unstable!!!!!!!! Sorry my frustration help would be appreciated

@JacobsK5, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Based on everything you've shared, here's what’s likely going on and what you can try to fix it.

🧠 What's Likely Happened

Using the Samsung charger, even briefly, might have triggered one of the following issues:

  • Power circuit protection or charging IC failure: Modern laptops like your HP Transcend often have overcurrent or overvoltage protection that disables charging/power to protect the board.
  • EC (Embedded Controller) lockup: The EC manages power-on/off, battery charging, etc. A bad power event can cause it to freeze or shut down completely.
  • Battery/power delivery firmware confusion: The wrong charger handshake might have confused or damaged the firmware.
  • Motherboard fuse/charging IC damage: Less likely if it was only for a few minutes, but still possible.

🛠️ What You Can Try Right Now

1. Perform a Real EC Reset

This is different from just holding the power button. Try this:

  1. Unplug everything: charger, USB, peripherals.
  2. If the battery is removable (unlikely, but if yes), take it out.
  3. Press and hold Power + Mute (or F12) for 30–60 seconds. (Some HP models use Power + Windows + B or Power + V for EC reset as well.)
  4. Wait 1 minute, then plug in the original HP charger and see if the white light blinks once or changes color.
  5. If the laptop supports a "real" embedded controller reset through a pinhole, look for a small reset hole (usually near the vents or bottom) – you might need a SIM ejector pin to press it.

2. Try BIOS Recovery Shortcut

With the charger unplugged:

  1. Press and hold Windows + B, then press and hold Power for 3–5 seconds.
  2. Keep holding Windows + B for another 10 seconds, then release.
  3. If there's life in the BIOS, it may attempt to recover.

3. Check the Charging LED Behavior

The white blinking LED usually means:

  • 1 blink every 3–5 seconds: Battery not detected.
  • Continuous blinking: Battery critically low or hardware error.

Try different USB-C ports if available and check for any faint sounds or heat (indicating the board is alive but stuck).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @JacobsK5,

Thank you so much for the update! I'm really glad to hear you were able to send the laptop in under warranty, definitely the safest choice, especially with a device in mint condition. Fingers crossed the repair goes smoothly!

Wishing you a great weekend too, and I’d love to hear the update once HP gets back to you. 😊

Take care,
