Hp Gaming laptop 15 ec001ca
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Looking to see if i can add additional storage and ram, and if so what exactly id need to buy. My first actual gaming laptop and loving it, but ive read a bit of an upgrade can drastically improve performance!

Its it an 15-ec0001ca (3 zeros, not 2) ? Its specs:

         https://www8.hp.com/ca/en/laptops/product-details/product-specifications/31536234

Manual for the series

       http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06446633.pdf

There are only 2 things you can do without costing you an arm an a leg

1. RAM: It has 8GB now, you can upgrade to 16GB (add 8GB more) or 32GB (max) using

                 https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct16164611     (8GB)

                 https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4sfd824a/ct16164536    (32GB)

2. Storage: You can replace 256GB with larger capacity M.2 NVMe SSD such as

                https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/970-evo-nvme-m2-ssd/MZ-V7E2T0BW/

or

Add 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD to your machine BUT you need more part(s) (Hard drive connector/cable) as mentioned on page 33 of the manual. Part is N/A from HP

             http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?searchText=L72698-001

and I can't find online. Please use part # to search elsewhere.

More RAM will increase performance bur more Storage will give you more room, not much for performance.

Regards.
