Original battery has swollen up and changed by dealer after almost one year. Second battery swollen again after 8 months. What is this / and what do I do?

According to the data, an HP battery in this condition is not dangerous - that is, it is not prone to seepage or explosion.

Reference

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.
  • There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.

HP EliteBook/ProBook/Zbook Workstations - Notebook PCs - Swelling or Deformation of Notebook Battery

That said:

  • The bloated / swollen battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.
  • It has failed or will soon do so.
  • Not removing the battery could likely result in (further) damage to other components in the computer due to physical stress.

If you purchased and had the battery installed by HP, the battery and service will have come with a guarantee for service over a given time.  If the battery did not meet its warranty date, open a case with HP to have the battery replaced.

If the battery is not an HP authorized replacement part and / or the battery was installed by other than HP, contact the merchant who provided the battery and completed the installation.

Part number and replacement procedure are included in the Service Guide.
