Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Overheating on your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop (15-fb0000) could be caused by several factors, including dust buildup, poor ventilation, or high CPU/GPU usage. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:
1. Check and Clean the Vents & Fans
- Make sure the cooling vents are not blocked by dust or placed on soft surfaces like a bed.
- Use compressed air to clean the vents and fan area.
2. Update BIOS and Drivers
- Go to HP Support and check for the latest BIOS update and drivers, especially for the chipset and graphics card.
3. Control CPU & GPU Temperatures
- Use HP Command Center to set the Performance Mode to Balanced or Quiet instead of Performance.
- Undervolt the CPU using tools like Ryzen Controller (since your model has an AMD processor).
- Reduce in-game graphics settings to lower the GPU workload.
4. Improve Airflow & Cooling
- Use a cooling pad to help with heat dissipation.
- Keep the laptop in a cool, well-ventilated area.
5. Check for Background Processes
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and check if any apps are consuming too much CPU or memory.
- Disable unnecessary startup apps under the Startup tab.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
